Job Summary:
Reporting to the Assistant Facility Manager, the principal duties of the Senior Facility Electrician are to troubleshoot, repair, replace and install any component of the Facility’s low voltage (up to 600 V) electrical systems including but not limited to wiring, cabling, conduits, transformers, circuit breakers, electrical disconnects, lighting fixtures, VFDs, motors, sensors, control panels, various elements of the emergency power system, components of the fire alarm system, Access Control System, CCTV, etc throughout the Facility including outdoor and indoor areas, patient rooms and treatment areas. The scope of the Senior Facility electrician also includes the performance of effective Preventive and Predictive Maintenance of all systems within the scope of responsibility including monthly generator and ATS performance testing.
Responsibilities:
General Duties
- Analyse the Facility’s as-built electrical drawings, O&M specifications, and instructions to facilitate the troubleshooting, repairs, replacement and installation of various components of the electrical system low voltage system (up to 600 V). The scope of the electrical system includes normal power, emergency power and UPS power;
- Perform thermographic scans of critical electrical infrastructure as part of the Predictive Maintenance process and effect repairs where such repairs fall within the appropriate voltage rating (up to 600 V);
- Install electrical circuits and electrical equipment related to the Facility’s building system, including, but not limited to grounding and bonding leads, lighting and lighting fixtures, various components of the life safety systems and other circuits as needed;
- Measure, cut, thread and install electrical conduits, pulling wiring through conduits, cavities in walls and floors and ensure that penetrations through floors or fire separations are sealed with fire retardant sealant;
- Where required, splice, joins and connect wiring to fixtures, power equipment and ensure that connections are aligned with industry best practices with respect to bonding and safety;
- Mount motors, transformers, light fixtures and other Facility electrical components into position and complete circuits according to the drawings and specifications;
- Perform monthly diesel generator test and coordinate this test with the support of other facility resources as required. Ensure that the diesel generator test is aligned with the requirements of the CSA C282;
- Inspect lighting systems, emergency power system, alarm systems, HVAC system and other components and end devices of the Facility’s electrical system;
- Isolate and repair source of trouble and fault in the Facility’s electrical system, ensuring that the company’s safety policy and procedures and industry best practices are diligently applied;
- Replace and/ or repair faulty electrical system components including switches, sockets, ballasts, light bulbs/ tubes and other system related elements;
- Replace and/ or repair components of the access control system including card readers, cameras, electronic door hardware and other system related elements;
- Execute Planned Preventive Maintenance and Predictive Maintenance programs for power system equipment such as transformers, breakers, disconnects, capacitor banks and switchgears, HVAC equipment and devices such as motors, VFDs, control sensors, alarm systems and communication systems;
- Ensure that tools and PPEs are current with respect to expiration dates and are appropriate for the use case.
Quality Management
- Maintain records and information pertinent to work assignment;
- Ensure PPMs, PdMs and Demand Events are addressed within the associated Response and Rectification timelines;
- Provide written estimates for electrical works related to repairs and/ or new installation/ construction projects as required;
- Provide technical assistance and guidance as required to the Assistant Facility Manager;
- Ensure compliance with the Site’s policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance and safety guidelines;
- Observe guidelines, rules and regulations with respect to health and safety and infection control protocols;
- Ensure diligence with respect to the use of lock out tag out procedures and ensure strict adherence to the associated policy;
- Complete simple sketch when required to convey approach to project execution;
- Research specifications, as-built drawings and O&M manuals to facilitate repairs and adjustments;
- Meet with vendors as required with respect to the selection of parts and equipment.
Expectations
- Participate in educational programs and in-service trainings;
- Attend meetings as required;
- Availability for certain amount of overtime and being on-call if necessary;
- Provide verbal and written reports as requested;
- Complete assigned tasks and close the work orders within the appropriate time;
- Communicate with the central Help Desk as required;
- Adhere to the occupational health and safety acts and other applicable legislative requirements;
- Represent Equans in a positive light through ethical behaviour and demonstrating professionalism;
- Perform other duties consistent with the job classification as required or as assigned by the Assistant Facility Manager.
Requirements :
- High School Diploma or equivalent;
- Valid Ontario Electrician Certificate;
- Ability to read, write and speak English fluently;
- Must have at least 3 to 5 years experience operating as a licensed electrician;
- Ability to read Electrical (including Controls) drawings;
- Familiarity with the Canadian Electrical and Building Codes;
- Computer literacy and MS Office computer skills;
- Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS);
- Familiar with electronic hand-held devices (tablets, cellphones, etc.,);
- Ability to work at heights; ladders, boom/scissor lifts and scaffolding;
- Ability to work in confined spaces;
- Ability to pass all background checks and security screenings;
- Able to pass a medical exam;
- Must provide full immunization records including required vaccinations for COVID 19.
